Day by Day Itinerary

Arrival

You'll be collected from the airport. Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania! You will be picked up from the airport by a Tanzania Destination representative and driven to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you will hopefully have time to relax and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime! Busy Arusha is an essential part of safari life here in northern Tanzania and most travellers pass through at some stage.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your Tanzania Destination guide will collect you from your accommodation after breakfast. This morning, you will drive to Tarangire National Park (approx. 2.5 hours). The park is named after the Tarangire River, the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. The park is well known for its elephant families, baobab trees, and a huge variety of wildlife and birds. Lunch will be at a picnic site inside the park. After your game drive, you will transit to your accommodation in Karatu.

Day 3: Karatu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive up into the cooler regions of Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Stop to see the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, then transit through the area to the Serengeti, entering at the south of the park. The Serengeti is famous for its vast open grasslands and the annual Great Migration. Accommodation is flexible for the next 3 nights, depending on the location of the Migration.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

This entire day is set aside for game drives in the Serengeti. The park boasts an abundance of wildlife such as impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos. You have a good chance of encountering predators and may see lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Depending on the location of the Great Migration, you may venture away from the Central region to experience this natural wonder.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

Another day set aside for game drives in the Serengeti. It is possible to have a more relaxed pace, and do early morning and late afternoon game drives, returning to your accommodation for lunch and some relaxation. Every day is different in the Serengeti and there is always plenty to explore.

Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, wind your way towards Ngorongoro Crater, enjoying more wildlife on the way. The crater is a pristine wilderness with savannah, acacia woodland, lakes, and swamps. The drive down into the crater is an adventure in itself, and you’ll find yourself amongst large numbers of wildlife. After a full afternoon inside the crater, drive to your accommodation in Karatu.

Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

Drive to Lake Manyara National Park, your final destination on this epic safari. The park is home to thousands of wading birds, baboon, elephant, and the famous tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park. After your game drive, you will be dropped off at a place of your choosing (Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport). Additional accommodation can be arranged for an extra cost.
